LGB&T Launch 2011

Launch of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGB&T) History Month 2011 and Suffolk LGB&T Network Tuesday 1 February 2011 at 1800 for 1830 at Suffolk New College, Ipswich IP4 1LT

You are cordially invited to the launch of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGB&T) History Month 2011 and Suffolk LGB&T Network, to be held in the Atrium at Suffolk New College, Ipswich, on Tuesday, 1st February 2011.

The launch will commence at 6.00 pm for a 6.30 pm start.  There will be a number of keynote speakers including Cllr Jane Chambers, Mayor of Ipswich; Cllr Kathy Gosling, SCC Portfolio holder and Jackie Cheer, Deputy Chief Constable for Suffolk.  The evening will also include a performance from Suffolk New College Music students.

A community village will provide information from a number of local and national organisations committed to LGB&T equality.

Suffolk LGB&T History Month is being organised in partnership with Suffolk New College, Suffolk Constabulary, Suffolk County Council, Ipswich Borough Council, Outreach Youth and Ipswich Town Football Club.

A display of LGB&T film and literature at the Library Knowledge Centre

9 February – 12 February, screening of ‘Loose Cannons’ at Ipswich Film Theatre

14 February, Rainbow Ribbon Day

19 February, International Day Opposing Homophobia in Football

The event will also host the launch of the new Suffolk LGB&T Network, which has evolved from the Suffolk Gay and Lesbian Helpline. The Suffolk LGB&T Network offers a support resource for the County's LGB&T community by way of a series of drop-in centres and a telephone helpline.
