Joint Information Systems Committee - 20 March 2007Community of Practice – Next Generation Technologies and Practice

Suffolk College has been asked by the Joint Information Systems Committee to lead a team consisting of the partners in the University Campus Suffolk project in a “Community of Practice” looking at the use of cutting edge ICT technologies in the delivery of Higher Education across Suffolk.

The team includes representatives from Great Yarmouth College, Lowestoft College, Otley College, and West Suffolk College as well as members from both University Campus Suffolk and Suffolk New College. Led by Dr Peter Funnell, Assistant Principal (Learning Development) at Suffolk College and Will Thomas from CREATE, Suffolk College, the team will join with representatives from other Higher Education Institutions nationwide to investigate ways in which “next generation” technology can be used to deliver learning remotely and to improve and personalise the student experience.

Dr Funnell said, “We are extremely pleased to have been asked to participate in this Community of Practice. ICT will play an important part in delivering high-quality learning to students at University Campus Suffolk and this is recognition of the good work that is already going on in the partner colleges.”
