ART & DESIGN SUMMER SHOW 2011

Suffolk New College hosted it annual Art & Design Summer Show Private View on Wednesday 8 June 2011. The show includes self initiated Final Major Projects for the 150 students completing their studies this academic year from the National Diploma in Art & Design (level 3), Foundation Studies in Art & Design (level 3/4), Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design and the National Diploma in Media Showreel.

There was a presentation of the Victoria Davidson Awards, which recognises the most outstanding student in each of the main Art & Design pathways of Fashion & Textiles, Fine Art, Graphics, Lens Based and 3-D design. The winners of the awards were;

Fine Art - Bradie-Constance Poole who is going onto Manchester University to study Fine Art

Fashion and Textiles - Laura Aldous who is going to the London College of Communication to study Surface Pattern

3D - Jasmine Gaze who is going to the Norwich School of Art to study Fine Art

Graphics - Lucy Walters who is going to Camberwell College of Arts to study Illustration

Lens Based Media there was two winners for this category - Abigail Whittaker who is going to Nottingham Trent University to study Design for Film and Television) & Laurence Calver  who is going to London College of Fashion to study Creative Directions for Fashion,

Once again this year, the courses have outstanding achievement rates with the majority of our students progressing to Higher Education. Details of the students’ destination will be presented within the show and we are very proud that many students have gained places at the most highly regarded colleges and universities, often with ten or more applicants for each place.

The Summer Show will be on public view at the following dates/times:

Thursday 9^th & Friday 10^th June 10am – 4.30pm

Saturday 11^th June 10am – 3pm

Monday 13^th – Thursday 16^th June 10am – 3pm
