Annual Hairdressing Competition at Suffolk College

On 23 April the Annual Suffolk College Hairdressing Competition was held. It attracted over 200 entries from the Pre-16 Programme of Academic and Vocational Education (PAVE) school hairdressers, full time students and work based learners.

It was an exciting event with 'Spring Ball' and 'Show Girls' as categories. There were fabulous creations in hair design and the judges were amazed at the level of skill students showed. The winner in the Level 3 category, Michelle Flory, created a hair design which was a metre wide with woven hair. Michelle hopes to take this success forward to an international competition being held in Belgium on 15 May where she will be representing Suffolk College.

The categories/themes and the winners were as follows:

* Total Look NVQ 2. 'Film Stars' - 1st Janay Porter (Rennaisance), 2nd Rebecca Copping (Hairtistique), 3rd Brunilda Xhaferaj (Quintessence), 4th Francis Dickings (Ebony & Ivory)

* Total Look NVQ 1. 'Spring Ball' - 1st Jessica Burrows, 2nd Laura Littleboy, 3rd Laura Wright
